Why Ray J Says He Won't Live to See 2027
Ray J's candid Instagram update draws prayer, questions and a wave of advice as he faces a serious health challenge.

Ray J Performs with Bleeding Eyes Weeks After Revealing He Has Months to Live
Ray J shocked fans during a Valentine’s Day concert in Shreveport, Louisiana, with a dramatic and blood-soaked performance that left many concerned for his health. The “One Wish” singer, 45, was seen in fan videos wearing sunglasses that appeared to have blood dripping from his eyes. During the show, he also revealed something taped to his chest resembling a heart monitor, surrounded by what looked like bloody skin.
Ahead of the February 14 concert, which featured artists such as Kelly Price and Bobby Valentino, Ray J posted on Facebook, “I’m putting my life on the line for this show!!” Videos shared on social media showed him removing his sunglasses to reveal pools of blood underneath both eyes and later taking off the top of his orange jumpsuit to reveal the taped device on his chest.
Addressing concerns backstage, Ray J responded to comments about his appearance, stating he was “feeling better,” and urged people not to laugh at his illness. “Hey y’all, we’re perfectly fine, nobody’s sick," he added with a smile.
The performance came just weeks after Ray J revealed he has only months to live following serious health struggles. Earlier this year, the singer was hospitalized for severe pneumonia and ongoing heart issues linked to past substance abuse, which have compromised the right side of his heart. Doctors prescribed eight medications to prolong his life and warned him of the possibility of needing a pacemaker or defibrillator. He also shared that his heart is currently functioning at only about 25 percent capacity and stressed the importance of staying focused and following medical advice.
“I f---ed up,” Ray J admitted, reflecting on his battles with alcohol, Adderall, and drugs, acknowledging these struggles have shortened his time. Despite the prognosis, he remains determined, expressing gratitude for the support and prayers he’s received. “2027 is definitely a wrap for me,” he said, emphasizing that he’s focusing on the right path moving forward.
The Prognosis
In a distressing video circulating on social media, Ray J claimed that "2027 is definitely a wrap for me," citing a doctor's prognosis. He previously revealed his heart is functioning at only 25 percent capacity.
Emotional Reflections
Friends in the video urged him to stay positive, but Ray J expressed regret over his past drug and alcohol use, admitting he "shouldn't have gone this hard." He also mentioned plans to try Haitian Voodoo and asked to be burned rather than buried when he passes.
Support System
The singer thanked his parents and his sister Brandy, noting that she has been covering his bills.
Initial Revelation
Earlier in January, Ray J stunned fans during an Instagram livestream by admitting his heart condition. Despite the serious news, he also took the opportunity to plug his upcoming shows on the Tronix Network.
Public Reaction
Fans have responded with a mix of prayer, concern, and skepticism. While many offered support, others questioned his lifestyle choices, noting the presence of alcohol in his video, and debated the helpfulness of his current partner, Shila.
