ATLANTA - Hip-hop group De La Soul will headline and help lead an upcoming Good Health Summit at Morehouse College, organizers announced, bringing conversations about wellness, longevity and mental health to one of the nation’s most prominent historically Black colleges.

According to Okayplayer, the summit will center on holistic health, community care and sustainable wellness practices, with De La Soul participating in discussions designed to connect culture, creativity and long-term well-being.

Culture Meets Community Health

The summit is part of a broader effort to address health disparities affecting Black communities by engaging cultural leaders who resonate across generations. Organizers say De La Soul’s involvement reflects the group’s long-standing emphasis on positivity, balance and self-awareness in both their music and public work.

The event will feature panels, wellness programming and conversations focused on physical health, mental well-being and community empowerment.

A Legacy Beyond Music

Since emerging in the late 1980s, De La Soul has been widely credited with expanding hip-hop’s creative and philosophical range. In recent years, the group has also been vocal about artist rights, legacy preservation and wellness—particularly following the death of founding member Trugoy the Dove in 2023.

Their participation at Morehouse underscores how veteran artists continue to shape dialogue beyond the stage, particularly in academic and community-centered spaces.

Morehouse’s Role

Morehouse College officials said the summit aligns with the institution’s mission to develop leaders who are socially conscious and community-oriented. Hosting the event on campus is intended to encourage open dialogue among students, educators and the broader Atlanta community.

Additional speakers and programming details are expected to be announced ahead of the event.

Looking Ahead

The Good Health Summit is expected to draw students, health advocates and community members, highlighting how hip-hop culture can serve as a bridge to conversations about wellness and longevity.
