Lee Daniels has “Star” fans watching closely again.
The producer, director and co-creator of the Fox music drama responded to renewed calls for the series to return, teasing that he still hears the fan demand for more of the show. In Instagram posts circulating over the weekend, Daniels engaged with viewers who have continued asking when the next chapter of “Star” will arrive.
The posts have sparked fresh excitement online, but they do not appear to confirm a new season, release date, network, streaming platform or production start.
“Star,” created by Daniels and Tom Donaghy, followed three young singers trying to break into the music industry while navigating fame, trauma, friendship and survival. The series starred Jude Demorest, Brittany O’Grady and Ryan Destiny, with Queen Latifah, Amiyah Scott, Quincy Brown and others also part of the ensemble.
The show aired on Fox for three seasons before being canceled in 2019. Its ending left fans frustrated, with unresolved storylines fueling years of social media campaigns and calls for closure.

Daniels has addressed the demand before. After the cancellation, he said the series would receive a wrap-up movie, though that project has not yet reached audiences. Entertainment Weekly reported in 2019 that Daniels said “Star” would return as a “movie of the week,” but no completed project has been released to the public.
The latest Instagram activity shows that interest in the series remains active. One post described Daniels as responding to fans “demanding” the return of the hit show, while another included language from fans asking when the next season is coming out.
For now, the safest takeaway is that Daniels is teasing the possibility of more “Star,” not announcing a confirmed revival.
Still, the reaction shows how strongly the show continues to resonate years after its cancellation. In an era where fan campaigns have helped revive or extend several canceled series, “Star” remains one of the titles viewers continue to push back into the conversation.
Until Daniels, a studio or a platform makes a formal announcement, fans will have to keep waiting — but the conversation is clearly not over.
